A crash that occurred at 2:20 a.m. Friday morning has taken the life of 1 person, while 2 others are in critical condition. One other has moderate injuries and two have minor injuries. The crash happened on the I-10 just west of Highway 62 near Palm Springs. More information will likely be released after the families involved are notified. This is the second deadly crash on the I-10 in just this week alone.
On Wednesday, a 20 year old woman was killed east of Mecca when she rolled her car on the highway just before 8:00 a.m. Samantha Paige Blackwood drifted to the left into the divider and struck a guard rail. The crash involving the Alhambra woman is still under investigation, and drugs and alcohol are not thought to be involved.
Incidents on the I-10 have caused plenty of property damage this week as well. On Tuesday, a truck hauling cars, many of them luxury vehicles, hit a burlap sack full of vegetation and caught on fire while traveling eastbound on the I-10 near Monterey. While thankfully no one was injured, the damage done is estimated to be almost $200,000 and traffic was affected for over an hour. More details can be seen here.
