Researchers developing brain-controlled computer cursor

People with spinal cord injuries may be able to benefit from new technology that is being developed by a Stanford research team. The researchers are working on brain-controlled prosthesis to help people with debilitating injuries recover some motor function. Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave the team permission to use people with spinal cord injuries to test a thought-controlled computer cursor.

What event causes more spinal cord injuries than anything else?

Getting injured in any type of accident can be devastating, especially when there has been catastrophic damage done to a person's spinal cord. Depending on the location of where the spinal cord is damaged, a person can experience complete or partial loss of muscle function below the point of trauma. This type of injury is one that can upset a person's life enormously, so it can be crucial for victims in Palm Springs to consider pursuing compensation after an accident.

September is Spinal Cord Awareness Month in California

People who have suffered a serious injury to their spinal cord likely experience the consequences of that type of injury every day. Whether they have been paralyzed or have had their respiratory or gastrointestinal systems affected as a result of a catastrophic accident, victims very often will have their lives change dramatically after a trauma like this.
